Attention Pittsburgh, especially the Eastern Suburbs including Monroeville, Wilkins Township, and Penn Hills!
Brent Shealer, D.C., CCSP is truly Your Certified Sports Chiropractor!
*NEW* Dr. Brent has been chosen by the USOC to travel to Lake Placid and take care of Olympic athletes!
Details here.
Dr. Brent is excited to announce that he has received his CCSP Certification. Put simply, CCSP stands for Certified Chiropractic Sports Practitioner. He has received this post-graduate certification from the ACBSP (American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians) after having 114 hours of seminars, doing hands-on training, and taking a board-certified examination.
Dr. Brent is currently one of only a handful of Chiropractors in all of Allegheny County to have this certification and the only Chiropractor in the Eastern Suburbs (including the Communities of Monroeville, Penn Hills, Wilkins Township, Turtle Creek, Verona, Plum, Edgewood, Swissvale, North Versailles, White Oak, Forest Hills, and Churchill) to be a CCSP.
This certification gives Dr. Brent a greater and more defined knowledge to diagnose, prevent, and treat injuries suffered by athletes of any age or skill level. So whether you’re the weekend warrior on the golf course, the youth athlete that plays football, soccer, or baseball, the recreational runner, or the college or pro level athlete; Dr. Brent is now in an even better position to not only help you get out of pain, but also prevent future injury.
Taking care of an athlete, and treating injuries suffered by them, presents a whole different set of challenges and nuances as compared to a “standard” patient in practice.
Understanding the mechanics of what the body goes through during various sports activities, recognizing how the body reacts to different sports-specific stressors and pain triggers, and knowing return to play guidelines and when an athlete can resume their normal level of sports activity are what set a CCSP apart from the average Chiropractor.
A CCSP understands that the body works as a whole. When treating an athlete, it’s not only important to take care of common spinal conditions, but also look to the extremities (shoulders, elbows, wrists, legs, knees, and feet) as contributors of the athlete’s symptoms.
In short, if you participate in any sport, or know someone that does, you’d be wise to entrust your care to a CCSP!
